Home Adjustments

Brendan Albury is the dedicated Home Adjustments Worker. Brendan is a registered builder who works closely with Occupational Therapists and tradespeople to assess clients' needs, provide tailored options, prepare plans, and oversee the completion of major home modifications. He also conducts service assessments and determines client eligibility.

The Home Adjustments Service is funded to provide support to frail aged people, younger people with disabilities, and their carers. The program receives funding through the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP).

The goal of the Home Adjustments Service is to prevent the premature or inappropriate long-term institutionalisation of clients who have been assessed as eligible. This is achieved by making physical and structural modifications to their primary place of residence, improving safety and accessibility.

Eligible clients include frail or ‘at risk’ aged persons, people with moderate or severe disabilities, and designated carers of eligible clients. Examples of modifications include:

Installing ramps and stair climbers to improve home access

Modifying bathrooms to enhance safety and comfort during daily routines

Ramps and stair climbers are owned by the service and leased to clients. The lease payment includes installation costs and covers all maintenance and removal expenses when the equipment is no longer needed.

To determine your eligibility, please contact us by calling the Neighbourhood Centre on (07) 4654 1307 or via the Contact Us section on the website.
